Flight Commanders 122 Squadron

I am looking for details of the following pilots who I believe were flight commanders in 122 Squadron in September 1943.

I.R. Macintyre

W.B. Adams

best regards

Keith

Re: Flight Commanders 122 Squadron

Macintyre was on A Flt 1 Jan 43 as a Fg Off and of 17 Sep 43 commanded A Flt but Adams was a member of B Flt which was commanded by Capt T Johnsen who was not posted away until Dec 43

Re: Flight Commanders 122 Squadron

Thanks Chris. Seems like they had a few Flight Lieutenants. Richard F. Innes (ex-152, later c.o 130, 222 Squadrons) was also there as a supernumerary, so I assume Macintyre replaced the Czech Tobias Kruml who was posted out 25 August 1943? I thought that Lt (Acting Capt.) Thorvald Johnsen was a possibility given his experience but assumed he didn't make flight commander until he joined B/132 Squadron in May 1944 and then 602 Squadron.

Innes was on B Flt Jan 43 and then A Flt in Sep 43; the only other Flt Lt at that time was Adams. My diary confirms Kruml left the Sqn for HQ FC 25 Aug 43

Re: Flight Commanders 122 Squadron

I can't find any information on Macintyre or Adams other than their appearance with 122 Squadron. It seems like Adams was a seniority promotion? Macintyre was a veteran of several months (where did he serve pre-January 1943?), but it seems unsuccessful in significant aerial combat. I wonder if Innes "filled in" until Macintyre was promoted three weeks after the departure of Kruml, or Macintyre was Acting Flight Lieutenant 25 August-17 September 1943? Innes had apparently departed by October 1943 on promotion to 130 Squadron.

Ian R. MacIntyre:

56 OTU: December 1940
257 Sq.: January 1941
MSFU: June 1941
3 DF: September 1942
61 OTU: October 1942
122 Sq.: December 1942
HQ 9 Group: January 1944

There was a F/Lt William Bryan Adams with 516 Squadron in February 1944. He was killed with 21 Squadron July 10th 1944.
