Re: Canadian Mosquito's
On page 31 of the book Canadian Warbirds of the Second World War, some of these serial numbers are mentioned. They were built as dual control trainers.

Re: Canadian Mosquito's
KB336 is on display at the Canadiin Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa.
KA202 and 244 served with Kenting Aviation then Spartan Air Services in mapping ops in the 50's. KA114 is restored and is the only flying Mossie in the world today. |

The small number of Mosquitos actually flown by the RCAF were almost all at No. 7 OTU on the east coast, with a few fighter squadrons on the west coast chasing Japanese paper balloons, or with test establishments. |

Re: Canadian Mosquito's
Alex
From what I can see at face value, you rely on Air Britain's RAF Aircraft KA100 to KZ999. These details regarding the Mossies are not entirely correct and I have made a couple of changes. Not sure if you have Phil Butler/Dan Hagedorn's Air Arsenal North America where the confusion regarding these Mosquitoes is rather well told although no detailed production list is given. I assume you have another Air Britain book, The British Air Commission and lend lease? On page 154 and 158 you get quite a lot of details regarding aircraft which never entered the records anywhere since they were lost in transit or crashed before delivery so they are neither on RCAF nor RAF charge. Finally, there is Griffin's book Canadian Military Aircraft which give most but not all details such as why KA102 is not recorded either with RCAF or RAF, but I have added a note that KA102 was retained by DHC and their internal Directory for Technical Development. Presumably it stayed with them and was scrapped at some unknown date. Loads of Mossies in the range KA101 to 540 went straight into storage. Lots of them were sold to China in late 1947. Some even found their way into the Canadian civil register. Cheers Stig |

Re: Canadian Mosquito's
Hello All,
Thanks for replying, it was to test the water so to speak. I wonder about the serial numbers of those Post war Chinese Mosquito's and also wondered IF by chance any ended up being sent to Russia along with the many other aircraft via Alaska, perhaps as navigational guides to flights, and that they were left in Russia taken over by the Soviets ? Re: Canadian Mosquito's
I see you have neglected to mention KB161, the first Canadian-made Mossie to be taken on charge by the RAF. There is a good history of the a/c here....

Re: Canadian Mosquito's
Hello Don,
Thank you for the link to the history of KB161. But my question is about those Mosquito's that were retained in Canada. Alex |
