Comprehensive A.I.1.(k) Report Collection?
Would anyone with such a collection be willing to help with any reports relating to named and unnamed bodies washed ashore? fairly rare I know.
Thanks. Joe Last edited by Joe Potter; 12th August 2012 at 19:53. |

Re: Comprehensive A.I.1.(k) Report Collection?
Hi Joe,
I have quite a few A.I.(k) Reports but will take some time going through them all as I have them all filed in their various units etc. If I come across any I will of course pass them on. Kind regards Melvin www.aircrewremembrancesociety.com |

Re: Comprehensive A.I.1.(k) Report Collection?
Joe,
I have every report relating to the 1939/40 period and, as you know, you are welcome to consult them anytime. Is this a general enquiry or are you looking for something specific ? As, in my experience, not every body found resulted in an A.I.1.(k) Report being issued. |

Re: Comprehensive A.I.1.(k) Report Collection?
Joe,
I'm afraid that only one of your queries falls within my period of research: A.I.1.(k) Report No.789/1940 records the body of 60015/18 Uffz Heinrich ARP of 1./JG26 washed ashore at Littlestone along with wreckage from his aircraft on 24 October 1940 and buried in Grave O-407 at Hawkinge the following day. He had crashed into the Channel off Littlestone Gold Links at 3.30 p.m. on 22 October. A.I.1.(k) Report No.826/1940 relates to a body washed up at Littlestone on 27 October 1940 and buried in Grave O-405 at Hawkinge on 1 November as ‘Unknown’. It carried identity disc 67005/1 that allowed RAF Intelligence to correctly deduce that this was Hauptmann Hans-Carl MAYER, Gruppenkommandeur of I./JG53, lost on 17 October and both cemetery and RAF records were documented accordingly. |
