Benjamin F Warmer, III, 99th BG

S/Sgt Benjamin Franklin Warmer, III was a waist gunner on a B-17F of the 348th BS, 99th BG, in the MTO. He is officially credited (ie, by citation) with 9 victories. His best known combat was on July 5,1943, when he claimed seven enemy aircraft, apparently all Bf 109s. I believe he was flying in B-17F 42-29857, flown by 2nd Lt Flake Castro.

I found documentation for an additional victory, on August 31, 1943, a Bf 109. I have not been able to find documentation for his 9th victory. Can anyone document this victory? Also can anyone verify the aircraft serial numbers and pilot(s) of his victories?

All this goes into MAW4, eventually.

Enjoy!

Frank.

This does not answer your question, but here is a little background on Warmer.

Re: Benjamin F Warmer, III, 99th BG

I found a few things in the newsletters on the 99th BG website.

Some statements to the effect that Warmer flew (most missions?) with Max E Davis.
