A Bad Couple of Days - 33 FG in Feb 43

I have had to cross-check three sources (The Fighting Nomads by James E. Reed, 33d Fighter Group Mission Reports, and Fighters over Tunisia) to sort out the two costly days that led to the withdrawal of the 33d Fighter Group from combat in early February 1943. Most of the discrepancies seem to concern the identity and fate of the pilots. One big difference is the cause for the losses of two aircraft on 2 February as the unit mission report states they were downed by flak. Most losses were in the 59th Fighter Squadron as noted below:

Six P-40s out on morning patrol, Major Hubbard only one to return - he claimed one Ju-87.

1-Feb-43 S. of Maknassy/Sened morning 59th FS/33d FG P-40F Lt James H. Raddin Enemy fighters Reed, p. 206. Force landed at airfield due to battle damage.
