James Douglas Lindsay RCAF WW2 and Korea
Lindsay ended the war an acting squadron leader of 416 squadron. His seven kills winning him the DFC. After EOW he returns to Canada. His bio indicates he served in North-West Air Command - but no details. Was he a staff officer? His promotion to Squadron Leader on 1 January 1950 is no information except that he does not take command of 413 squadron RCAF until 1 August 1951,
He joins the USAF on a sabatical in 1952 flying fifty missions and claiming two MiGs in Korea before returning to promotion as Wing Commander RCAF in 1953.
After 1955 when I assume he relinquishes command of 1 (Canadian) Fighter Wing he completes a career as a RCAF staff officer (from the age of thirty-three?) with the rank of Colonel (Group Captain) in 1972.
The incomplete list of his thirty-types of aircraft he flew does not include any jets after the Vampire and Sabre, but does include the Dakota, the Anson and the Oxford. His encounters with the Beaufort (no longer in service in 1947) and Beaufighter (in 1946) are less obvious.
