JG 21 - one plane; two pictures.
Hello,
Two nice pictures of White 10. Not a new plane but one new (?) picture. Shot down - at least belly landed - Holland, June 1940 if I believe available caption. 1. http://cgi.ebay.de/Flugzeug-Me-Bf-10...item3f07cf191e known picture; though a little bit wider. 2. http://cgi.ebay.de/Flugzeug-Me-Bf-10...item3f07cf1c22 new picture. Regards, Franck. |

Re: JG 21 - one plane; two pictures.
Hi Franck & Bertrand,
Bertrand I think Franck has his assumption from the collection of 4 of the same aircraft, to be seen in David Weiss excellent website "Falcon's Messershmitt Bf 109 Hangar" where he gives us a guess of June 1940 in Holland. But I agree to you, I couldn't anything (JG21 - Netherlands - 1940) in "Battle of France, Then and Now" nor in "Fighters over France and the Low Countries" of Mushroom. So, it has to be France, by all means. Cheers Horst

Re: JG 21 - one plane; two pictures.
Hello Bertrand & Horst,
You both are right and I wrote "if I believe..." in the mean time David wrote "Vermütung"... But since we got a new picture I thought good to write it again trying to get more information (who knows?). If I remember well we already had some talks on LEMB about the same very plane, more than one year ago. Did someone said it's too hilly to be Holland at that time?... Another comment; for June 1940 the Rosiwal list is already talking about III./JG 54 and gives three losses 2 from 7. and one for 9. but this BEFORE JG 21 became III./JG 54... Last, writing JG 21... in Title and not Bf109s on eBay as usual, I knew exactly who was going to comment!!! . Note that the engine most probably did stop before the belly landing was made since one blade is in a quite good state (Just engine trouble cause?). Tschüss, Franck. PS: Hope the mail is running well between France & Portugal: Sunny weather, no strikes planned.... |

Franck, don't forget, big brother (Spain) is watching you guys. Sunny here but chilly and unemployment rate rose to new record.
