The trouble is that databases only exist when people do the work necessary to compile them. Why don't you begin one for RAF MTO losses yourself? If there are reasons why you can't do that, those same reasons may explain why no one else has done the job for you so far.

Make a start, you may find it addictive and people will be willing to contribute.

Re: MTO RAF Losses

Hi Nick,

since five years i try to building an MTO Database for
RAF / Commonwealth losses.
Since five years i surf in forum's and set questions.
Answers are very rare.
As example my question here in the forum
( MTO Claim 1941 by JG 27 ).
I don't know why.
Maybe while i came from germany.
In last five yeras i have to learn that sometimes exist
the same old enmity after sixty years of war's end.

Regards
Fireship

Re: MTO RAF Losses

You get no information because internet is not the source of such information. You have to bother yourself and research the losses at archives, namely NA/PRO at Kew.

I don't think this is an issue any more.
Anyhow, from your nick-name and public personal information, it's not clear that you're German.

I second the opinions given above, namely if you're truly interested in the intricate details of a certain topic, you should try to do the research yourself, using primary sources. I did the same myself, and the results are well above of what I've originally imagined...

I assure you this is not the reason. First, I do not think that prejudice exists on this Board. Second, with the use of your nickname, "Fireship", how would anyone know you are German?

The main reason people might be reluctant to share on the Web, assuming someone out there has such a database, is that they have likely spent years, tediously compiling it. While they don't mind answering the ocassional question, they are reluctant to share it on a world-wide basis, which is what happens once it is posted, without some sort of "trade" or other return for their efforts.
