Pre-war Luftwaffe Training 1935-39
Hi,
I am just trying to "wrap my head around" some of the Luftwaffe training establishments from the pre-WWII period, before the reorganisation/renaming of the flying schools. Thus, I have a couple of questions: 1. The Schülerkompanie of a flying school (pre-war Flieger-Ersatz-Abteilung) - was this composed only of students on a given flying course or did it include students and school staff (instructors)? 2. The Flugkommando Berlin - what was the purpose of this unit in the 1935-39 period, and why would it have had a Schülerkompanie? 3. If a pilot trainee obtained his Class A and B licenses at a pre-war Flieger-Ersatz-Abteilung (FEA), at what unit was a pilot likely to obtain their Advanced Air Force Pilots Certificate (Erweiterter Luftwaffen-Führerschein, ELF) or aerobatic license (Kunstflug, K1 or K2) in the 1935-39 period? Were these advanced licenses also obtained at a FEA? 4. Lastly, with the various pilot training establishments, what would the abbreviation "Kp." refer to? Cheers Rod |
