Question Fw190 to ID with Ju52

Dears,

1) Somebody knows details of this one Fw190 "< 3" probably somewhere in East Prussia 1945 ?

Re: Fw190 to ID with Ju52

Kris,

The Ju 52 in the background has the code 1Z+(F)L from 3./TG 1, this group was active over East Prussia late 1944 to early 1945. Two Fw 190 equipped I.Gruppe units were there at the same time.

I./JG 1 never had markings in the form “chevron number” applied so this aircraft must have belonged to I./SG 3. This is supported by the lack of outer wing canons which indicates a Schlacht aircraft.

Re: Fw190 to ID with Ju52

Hi Kris and Merlin,
I don't have any details about this particular Fw 190, but some remarks about its location: If "<3+" was also found at "Groß-Dershkayn" then this is another good indicator for I./SG 3 being its parent unit. Groß Dirschkeim, as it was actually spelt, was located right next to Brüsterort airfield, where, you guess it, I./SG 3 was based from 2/45 to 5/45...

Cheers,
Christian

Re: Fw190 to ID with Ju52

Hi Christian,

thanks for the assistance as I could not find "Groß-Dershkayn".

3./TG 1 was at Brüsterort until 1.Feb.45 when they left for Stolp-Reitz. Reported losses at that base were two Ju 52 destroyed during a low level attack on 31.Jan.45.

I./SG 3 was at Brüsterort until mid of March 1945. Reported losses at that base were one Fw 190 each destroyed during a low level attacks on 20.Feb.45 and 9.Mar.45.

Christian & Merlin - Maybe this helps ?

acc.1)

See following info.:
Donskoye

54°56'08"N 019°59'00"E
"...
Donskoye airfield (Russian: Аэродром "Донское", sometimes written as Donskoe, also known as Flugplatz Groß Dirschkeim or Flugplatz Bryusterort/Brüsterort) is an airfield 40 kilometers northwest of Kaliningrad.

The airfield was built by the Germans in what was then still German East Prussia.
During World War II the airfield was home to Stab./Jagdgeschwader51 (Stab./JG51) and I. Gruppe of Schlachtgeschwader 3 (I./SG3). Brüsterort was taken by the Red Army on 14 April 1945...."

Description: Soviet Guardsmen inspect damaged Luftwaffe aircraft at Gross Dirschkeim airfield, Spring 1945.

Another photo with Fw190 and Ju52 (left corrner down there is text about airfield name but in Russian language Гросс Дирсхкэим but mean
Gross Dirschkeim):

Re: Fw190 to ID with Ju52

Hi there Kris,

Big difference here: this is not a Fw 190 but an Erla built Bf 109 G-14/AS W.Nr 46. ..., I./JG ?, Gross Dirschkheim, after 14 April 1945. Source: ronaldv.nl.

Any ideas from which possible unit?
Cheers
Marc

I would say JG51. There were some Bf109Gs from 10./JG51in that area till the last days of April 1945.

Re: Fw190 to ID with Ju52

KrisJG3
These are obviously two different Fw 190s in your original post. And then Merlin's post with loss of 2 lost a/c in I./SG 3 - could be good pointer and as he also mentioned - a/c does look like late war jabo version.
Also, I have to say that the camouflage scheme looks incredibly interesting. Would be amazing if there were few more images showing same airframe from other angles & maybe with closed engine panels since it seems that the only darker camouflage color applied to the fuselage is on the power egg and then remaining looks like it's painted in one single light color including vertical stabilizer. Light color on the wings that seems even brighter than the fuselage... So interesting!
