Two new books by Fighter Pilots flying Mustangs and Spitfires

Just received two new books written by WWII fighter pilots.

The first book is : "An Ordinary Guy in Extraordinary Times" by Robert McCampbell. (Second Wind Books:2005 - softcover). This is the story of a USAAF fighter pilot flying Spitfires and P-51s with the 4th Squadron, 52nd Fighter group. Bob McCampbell started started flying Spitfire Vs in 1943 before converting to P-51 Mustangs in April 1944. He took in various escort duties flying over Ploesti and Munich. Ultimately scored three victories including two Bf-109s. Very well written account of a 15th AF Mustang pilot.

The second book is "Spitfire: An American WWII fighter pilot in the RAF" by Parke F. Smith (Little Star-2020-softcover). The story of American pilot who was trained by the RAF and served his entire war career in the RAF. At first stationed in the Mediterranean Theater with 253 and 225 RAF Squadron flying Spitfire Vs and IX. He later flew Mustang IV with 65 Squadron escorting Beaufighters and Mosquitos to Norway. Lots of good stories and a different account of an American flying for the RAF.

I recommend both books as good reads.
