Re: eBay: Allied intrest

Hi Andy, Ed

Photo 11 actually shows N6164 TR-K, forced-landed at Saint-Vaast-en-Chaussee on May 19th and abandoned in situ next day.
L4856 has previously been listed as TR-K, but photographic evidence has shown it was in fact 'Z'.

Photos 9 & 10 show Blenheim Z6103 QY-K of 254 Squadron which was forced-landed at Morgat on the French coast. Pierre Babin has done a lot of work on this aircraft and I think he may have written an article about it in a French magazine.

Regards,

Martin.

Hi AndyMa and all,

there is collection pf e-bay photos of this Blenheim - L4856 TRoZ:

http://modelari.org/viewtopic.php?t=2841

But I have question (3 post on the topic) - this is the same place where the L4856 was burned during the retreat - the combination of engines responds, only the fuselage is missing (probably taken away) and more debris was pulled into place ......

Hello Martin,

In fact I related the story of this aircraft in my book about the Wekusta 2 "La Wekusta 2 au combat, 1940-1944" (pages 69-71). And the "connexion" of this RAF N°254 Sqdn aircraft, is that after its emergency landing on a Morgat beach, it was it was taken in hand by the mechanics and pilots of the Wekusta 2.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest

Schnautzer posted a message in a Blenheim thread which might fit better here:

"Bristol Blenheim L6670 UQ-R Abschuss Afrikakorpspictures of crashed pplane now on ebay https://www.ebay.de/itm/134148279203...8AAOSw~~Riqw94 "

Despite the stamping on the photo, I don't think this can be L6670. This did indeed serve in Greece with 211 Sqn, as per:
http://www.211squadron.org/bristol_blenheim_i.html
but that site records that it made a wheels up landing on 15 Dec 40 and did not fly with the sqn operationally again. The relevant Air-Britain serials book says it was passed to the Hellenic Air Force on 1 Apr 41.
I think we are looking for another UQ-R. Ideas anyone?
Andy

PS Thanks to Martin for the correction on TR-K
