Re: Photo Junkers J.I
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a line up of Junkers J.I. Nearest the camera J.857/17 and next back J.815/17 I think at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-Feldflu...QAAOSweFhevTkL J.857/17 is known to have served with FA (A) 263, so perhaps that is the unit depicted. I'd also welcome other views on whether I've read the serials correctly, since upon checking I've already seen this photo which was either captioned J.867/17 and J.818/17 or that's how I read it at the time. Re: Photo Junkers J.I
Clint
We both know by now that few photos sold on e-bay comes out crystal clear (unfortunately). For what it's worth I also read these two numbers as 857/17 and 815/17. Especially the aircraft nearest to the photographer is difficulty to interpret as anything else. The second one is more tricky, even if I don't want to risk my neck for it, I would say 815 is pretty certain. The /17 is not visible at all as far as I can judge, but since no /18 fits, my bet is still on 815/17 Cheers Stig |

Hi Stig,
Thanks. You are correct. It's J.596/18.Kees Kort has another photo, presumably taken at the same time on his site: https://www.flickr.com/photos/varese2002/12362210754 Regards, Clint |

Re: Photo Junkers J.I
I agree
Should have checked my files. There is a whole range of photos taken on this field. One of them says it was near Tellancourt in France and the date was 19 Nov 1918 That does not mean every photo of the line up was on said date Cheers Stig |

Re: Photo Junkers J.I
And I should have checked Colin Ower's Junkers vol.1 for Aeronaut.Normally I'd have entered the details in my excel doc,so no idea why I didn't on this occasion.
The airfield info is interesting though.Hopefully it will be possible to discover the identity of the unit based at Tellancourt at the end of the war. Also, here are more photos of the same aircraft: https://live.staticflickr.com/4827/4...2a75908b_b.jpg https://external-preview.redd.it/QcB...=webp&7cf92a3b Peter M Grosz in WDF 39 has these aircraft at Villers La Chèvres (sp?) but the two locations are close,so no doubt the same location is intended.
