Re: Wreck of Graf Zeppelin found!

She was reportedly loaded with Type 21 U-Boat components. She capsized while under tow to Russia.

Re: Wreck of Graf Zeppelin found!

There appears to be conflicting information as to what caused the GZ to sink. I've heard, as previously noted she sank while being towed however based on the commentary described on the link I listed below, it was sunk by a combination of charges and torpedoes of the Soviet Navy. Any thoughts, insight.

Very interesting topic.

Cheers

Perhaps a consignment of secret Nazi atom bombs and flying saucers - they sure haven't been found anywhere else!

Suggestion: Close all hatches and openings, fill it with ping pong balls; then it might (possibly) float, then order some squadrons of Ju 87 C´s, Bf 109 T´s and Fi 167´s and you have a real museum...

cheers

The trick would be getting all those ping-pong balls down to the seabed in the first place!

Re: Wreck of Graf Zeppelin found!

It has been done.
The mythbusters, on Discovery television, were able to raise a sunken sailboat with ping-pong balls. However the deck was torn from the hull.
Perhaps we should inform them about the Graf Zeppelin.
