Hi!
Does anybody have information regarding the loss of 6 Stuka's from S.tg.1 19.april 1940 near Trondheim ,Norway.
The attackers was Skuas and Swordfish from HMS Glorious and HMS Ark Royal.

Looking for information regarding codes, area of the loss and soo on...

Must say that this is something I have in my notes and I don't know if this is legit or not.

Any help mutch appreciated.

Re: Loss of 6 Ju 87 19.april 1940 Norway /S.tg.1 ???

The correct date is likely 25th Apr 1940. This day 810 SQN FAA and 820 SQN FAA up at 03:00 from "HMS Ark Royal" with 13 Swordfish who then bombed airfield Vaernes outside Trondheim. Each Swordfish probably dropped 4 250lb bombs and 8 20lb boms. Several buildings were heavily damaged and some Luftwaffe aircraft were lost/damaged. Among them probably Ju 87`s from Stukagruppe I./StG1 who were based here this day. 3 Swordfish planes force landed on the way back to the carrier due to ground fire damage substained.

Perhaps Andreas can clear this up with his database?

Greetings from Norway

Knut

Thank you all for youre fast replys, appreciate it.

The reason for my request is some rumours heard about Stuka's damaged on the ice of Jonsvatnet, and then transported to Vaernes airport on lorries .

Found this link to wikipedia also : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturzka...egian_campaign

In time many rumours accour and I find it a bit hard to confirm them:-(..

Thanks a lot!

No rumour. I remeber seeing photo of damaged Ju 87 at Jonsvannet, but below is Ju 87 losses. Do not know if there were any more than them five (5) listed.

Thanks Ed!

Is there any possibility that this list is uncomplete?
3 planes down by Narvik and I think the other one at the top must be the one that got lost at Fiplingvatn.

My biggest dream is a time travel advice ....would have been great to have been at the lake some days in April 1940 :-)
