Question Unknown Aircraft Part

Hi,

I acquired this part of an aircraft, which I presume is the front part, the nose, it has punched au, 155, HM745. It has a diameter of about 22 inches.

Any help in identifying this part of an aircraft? I was told it might be german due to the dark green colour.

Thanks and regards

Re: Unknown Aircraft Part

That little handle piece bugs me. It is such a strange thing to have sticking out in the airstream like that (particularly on a nose and for sure it would be avoided on a spinner). It is not big, but still protrusions were avoided unless necessary to accommodate weapons and such.

But then again the riveting and that it was made flush does seem aviation. And it is double layered too...which seems strange and pointless on a nose cone or spinner.

Question Re: Unknown Aircraft Part

Thanks for your reply. Sorry I am not into the subject a lot but I do collect WW2 memorabilia and currently I am trying to ID some of the items in my collection. Could it be maybe the front part of a fuel tank? I was hoping on getting some information from the markings which are 'au', '155', 'HM745'.
