Info Needed on Kindsbach/Sandbach Ordnance Depot - Me109K

Hey guys,

I recently acquired some veteran items, who served in Ordnance with the 7th Army and 3rd Army.

In his collection was a complete Me109K bind panel, including all accessories (Mutterkompass, hoses, wiring, etc.).

Looks like everything was taken from one aircraft.

He indicated that everything was found at a depot (including a wrecked Me109) in Sandbach...outside of Kaiserslautern. However...Sandbach is quite far...and the only storage depot I have been able to find info on in that area is "Kindsbach".

He said the building was an old tire factory, and inside were all sorts of Luftwaffe equipment that were in need of overhaul or were for salvage...including an aircraft that was derelict outside (Me109K).

In this lot he acquired were also field-made electrical schematics OF the Me109 electrical system...but...though the book written on is German, the writing is RUSSIAN.

The only thing I can think of is that the book was written by a Bulgarian or Romanian (allied to Germany), who spoke Russian...and worked for the Germans...and then made the notes in his native language.

OR

Possibly a POW/Forced Labour worker.

Does anyone know of a Tire Factory that was used as a depot for Luftwaffe equipment in that area...or even Me109K's lost in that vicinity?

Mike

Re: Info Needed on Kindsbach/Sandbach Ordnance Depot - Me109K

Hello Mike!

This is what i have found:

In 1903 the "Veith-Werke" were established at Sandbach.
They manufactured tyres for bicycles and automobiles.
Their name was "Veith Antigleit".
In 1939 three halls were confiscated. They were used as repair workshop
for the Bf 109 till end of war.
1964 Veith-Pirelli AG
1986 acquisitation of the "Metzeler-Werke"
Since 2004 Pirelli Deutschland Gmbh

Herzliche Grüsse aus Oberschwaben,

Wolfgang
