Japanese record flight 1937
The two Japanese pilots Masaaki Linuma and Kenji Tsukagoshi had flown with her Mitsubishi Ki15 Karigane I, witch was named „Kamikaze” (Wind of Good), in a record flight from Japan to London in 1937.
They arrived in London at 9th of April 1937. After some days they flow from London to Berlin and back to far east. I will show you my photo, that showed the plane at German airfield in Detmold at 16th of April 1937. It is dated on the back side of the photo. Please look for the Luftwaffen soldier too. I think it is new in the Record History that this plane stay some hours in Detmold / Germany ! Best wishes Ruediger Last edited by Ruediger Kaufmann; 22nd January 2015 at 14:06. |

Re: Japanese record flight 1937
Rüdiger,
Interesting picture. I read in a Dutch newspaper of that time that the "Kamikaze" had to land at Detmold because of bad weather... It also says that the aviators received an enthusiastic welcome. The record plane was on its way from Brussels (departure time 12.15 p.m.) to Berlin-Tempelhof, and had left Detmold at 16.14 p.m. In Brussels the pilots had met the King of Belgium, Leopold.
