Lt.z.S Schröder loss/accident?
Can someone more knowledgable than me help me with the following? I have in my files the loss of two aircraft coded 8L+CK. Both were apparently flown by Lt. z.S Schröder. Both losses are Do 18s.
The first loss I have is 7/12/1939 and Wnr. 0817. I have this aircraft as lost in a crash NE of Aberdeen. For this incident I have 1 KIA and 3 safe though can not identify if the KIA was Schröder or not or even if he actually was part of this crew. The aircraft loss was 100% The second possible "loss" I have is on 27/12/39 flying a different 8L+CK (Wnr. unknown). This time Schröder and his crew, again unnamed, survived a crash-landing accident at Hornum See due to British aircraft fire. I do not know how much damage was suffered by the aircraft. My questions are: 1) What were the Wnr. and codes of the two aircraft lost on these two dates? 2) What were the names of the crew members involved? 3) Which aircraft was Schröder associated with (if any)? 4) How much damage was suffered by the second aircraft (27/12/39) in its accident? Any help with any part of the puzzle would be most welcome! Horrido! Newbie |

Re: Lt.z.S Schröder loss/accident?
Upon further digging I now have Schröder as the pilot of an HE 59, coded 8L+CK (Wnr. uknown), that was lost 8/12/39! Apparently the pilot of the aircraft lost 7/12/39 was Lt. z.S Steinhart while flying Do 18 8L+CK Wnr. 0817!! I have no further crew details.
Any help on clearing this all up would be most appreciated! Newbie |
