Italian Ace B-17 victory

Costantino Petrosellini was credited with shooting down a B-17 near La Spezia in September of 1943. He was assigned to 92a Squadriglia and flying an Mc.200 during this combat. Did this occur on September 3rd or the 8th? Also, does anybody have any information on which unit the B-17 belonged to?

Re: Italian Ace B-17 victory

Dear Garth,
according with the official history of 8° Gruppo C.T. written by Generale Giuseppe Pesce, the B 17 was claimed on September the 3rd 1943 and fell in the sea off Marina di Massa. This information is apparently confirmed also by the personal logbook of Comandante Petrosellini (that, however I've not had occasion to check personally).
It seems that in the occasion, Petrosellini was flying a C 200 fighter.
I don't know if the bomber really went down but it could had been as well an incorrectly identified B 24.

Regards

Ludovico

Thank you for the MACR lead, this gives me a good starting point in this investigation.
