How many aircraft in 4.5./JG 53 on 21 June 1941

Hi Everyone,

Looking at Nigel Askey’s tome on the Luftwaffe in June 1941 (among others) the strength of II./JG 53 is listed including 6./JG 53 in Döberitz in June 1941. My question is what was the unit strength of 6./JG 53 while in Döberitz, or the obverse of that coin what was the number of aircraft in 4.5./JG 53 on 21 June 1941?

as always

Thanks in advance

oquaig

Again, Jochen just lists 4 & 5./JG 53 taking part with an establishment of 40 ac of which 33 were combat ready. Seems a lot for a Stab and 2 Staffeln. 6 Staffel was retained in Germany for defensive purposes moving to Sylt 5 Jul 41

Re: How many aircraft in 4.5./JG 53 on 21 June 1941

Looking at the Bereitschaftsmeldungen filed 21. June 1941 for II./JG 53 it
was
4 a/c - 4 pilots for Stab,
11 a/c (1 not combat ready) - 11 pilots for 4th Staffel
10 a/c - 11 pilots (1 not combat ready) for 5th Staffel and
10 a/c ( 1 not combat ready) - 10 pilots ( 1 not combat ready) for 6th Staffel.
This is 33 combat-ready a/c for the Gruppe.
