Air and sea rescue unit Brindisi March 1944
Hello all
Which air and sea rescue unit was based at Brinidsi ant March 1944. I am trying to find (report) location of rescue from 19/20th of March 1944 in Adriatic (as mentioned in Antonio Duma History of 4 Stormo). "Hydroplane flew from Brindisi to zone signaled by radio to rescue individual" It was rescue attempt of s.ten. Adolfo Roesler Franz who was not found at zone. Current eventually took him to Dalmatian coast where he was picked by partisan forces and transferred to Vis. as always, thanks in advance Antun |

Possible 294 sqn, ASR at LG91 and LG07 using Walrus flying boats.

Re: Air and sea rescue unit Brindisi March 1944
In all probability CANT Z.506, Italians attached to 242 Group, two of which were reported on ASR mission according to the group report, the area 42:20N 17:30E on 19 March 1944. This corresponds to MATAF report that one of the six Mc.205s attacking guns at Lapad Island was damage and pilot baled out. A Z.506 flew unsuccessful ASR search for a dinghy.
