Oblt Anton Stangl was he Staffelkapitän of 5./JG 54

Oblt Anton Stangl was shot down and became a PoW on 1 September 1940 and he is listed by deZeng/Stankey, Kracker and Parker's Luftwaffe Crash Archive as Staffelkapitän of 5./JG 54, but Prien in Jagdfliegerverbände 4/II lists Oblt Rudolf von Aspern as Staffelkapitän from 01.08.40 - 17.11.40. Can anyone confirm Stangl's Staffelkapitän role and dates?

Taken from a letter to me from Stangl:

"I was the official Staffelkapitän only about four weeks until my collision over England on 1 September 1940. I was the Staffelführer during the campaign in France as the official Staffelkapitän Oblt Joachim Wandel was absent (sickness and leave) and at the end of July 1940 he was posted away. Roloff was my successor-we trained together at the Luftkriegsschule Dresden-Klotzsche in 1936-37."

Note he was not shot down but collided with another Bf 109. This will be in a forthcoming article on von Aspern

You have my email-I can possibly save you time and effort. Note also it was Roloff not Rudolf

Thank you for the Roloff correction, and the email offer.
