Ernst Kupfer, Hans-Ulrich Rudel and Kronstadt-1941
Hello,
Two questions related to Kronstadt raids Sep.41: 1. It is known from publications that Ernst Kupfer is credited with damage to the cruiser "Kirov" and the battleship "Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya" in Sep.1941 and also about his three emergency landings due to Flak damages during that events. Info about the emergency landing on 28.Sep.41 is from GQM loss returns but what is the primary sources about his other emergency landings and about his claims? 2. Has Rudel's award documents 1941-42 survived the war, including the award of the Knight's Cross? Or is the most detailed sources now are the articles in "Der Adler"? Best regards, Andrey |

2. Well I don’t know about all his award documents, but his KC Mappe survived and was auctioned long ago in the UK. Rudel’s wife was also there to bid on it, but in the end the family wasn’t the highest bidder. There is a photo of the winning bidder with the Mappe and Rudel his wife.
Regards, Thomas

The question is how it is known what is written about Kupfer in books and articles. And also in what exactly Rudel was awarded in terms of Kronstadt.
