Luftwaffe Gun Camera Footage

Hello

Here is an interesting compilation of gun camera footage that I came across recently. I have seen this type of footage before but this one includes victories on both Eastern and Western Fronts by such notable pilots as Oberleutnant Sigurd Haala (42 victories, DK-G, prisoner of war 21 August 1944), Leutnant Heinrich Sterr (129 victories, RK, killed in action 26 November 1944), Major Wolfgang Späte (99 victories, RK-EL), Unteroffizier Oskar Bösch (18 victories), Feldwebel Siegfried Schubert (3 victories, killed in flying accident 7 October 1944) and Feldwebel Kurt Gren (23 victories, killed in action 23 August 1944). Please ignore the usual unnecessary soundtrack.

Horrido!

Re: Luftwaffe Gun Camera Footage

Guess we all here do NOT love seeing persons being killed, either children by lack of vaccines, or starvation (nowadays); or those who passed throughout 1939-45 period.

Those who saw the images or footages liked the way they were shown. It is very rare indeed to find Me 163 combat footage (I guess)....so let's stay on the Historical and Military aspect of the footages. shall we?

On some cases the German pilots were able to fire from very very close range, almost ramming the B-17's. The P-47, for instance, am not sure if it was "brought down"...it was heavily hit, but this particular machine could stand a lot of "punition" and keep flying....We do not see "the end of the P-47".

The SB-3 shooting down by a a Bf 110 G-2 is well known....the German pilot seems to spray the bullets all around at the beginning, from left to right, using his rudder...what a waste of ammunition (in my humble opinion!! Of course, I was not there, so I can not judge!).

Thanks for sharing Leo!

Casrsten, No, I do not enjoy watching people get killed. What I meant to say, and pardon me if my statement was misunderstood, was that I "love" the rare Me-163 gun camera footage shown in this clip. There are many gun camera footage that shows the slaughter of airmen in combat which I find appalling but feel compelled to watch. Sorry if I was misunderstood.

I had wondered for at least a couple of decades what the aircraft who's wing caught fire at the 4:51 mark was. I had always thought it was an early mark Mustang, given the way the wing erupted into flames.

Did the Yak 9 have internal fuel tanks in the wings?

The images of Degener (JG300) are interesting:his "claim" has not been officially confirmed..filed VNE-ASM...yet according to the images!
