Bf 109 f4 10./JG2 Tail Markings
When designing the cover for my next WWII book, in the interest of historical accuracy, I was hoping someone on this great forum could help please.
Can anyone confirm my belief that the Bf 109's from 10./JG2 all displayed the same tail ship tally markings as Staffel Kapitän Oblt Frank Liesendahl's Bf 109 f4 Blue 1? I have seen photographs of 10./JG2's Blue 7 with the same tail markings suggesting that the markings represent a Staffel score board rather than an individual pilot's tally. |

Hi Chief,
And for one very good reason! Blue 7 (or Yellow 7, it depends of the author) was flown by Liesendahl! ... |

The kills did not as far as I am aware refer to Staffel kills-the only one I have seen is on Liesendahl's ac. It was not used on FW 190s as by then the staffel moved away from predominantly attacking ships. If you have not read it, suggest you get hold of my book on 10/JG 2 & 10/JG 26

Hello Chris,
Thanks for your reply. I do have your great book/books. My question was only a small detail in the grand scheme of things, but I wanted to get it right. Cheers |
