Re: Hptm. Eduard Jacob 3./NJG 2

Here is what we have on this fellow:

JACOB, Eduard.
(DOB: 24.09.11 in Soest).
1941 in 11./KG 30, then trf to NJG 2 by 12.41.
01.04.42 promo to Hptm.
02.43 in I./NJG 2.
20.06.43 Hptm., appt Staka 3./NJG 2.
01.44 Hptm., Staka 3./NJG 2 (to 16.01.44).
09.44 in II./NJG 100 (Balkans and Hungary).
1945 Hptm., in NSGr. 7 (to 08.02.45 KIA).

Apparently he never received an Ehrenpokal.

From the Kracker Archive we find further information:

14.10.43 claimed a B-17NE of Mergentheim.
22.10.43 claimed a Halifax 2 km S of Harzburg.
22.01.44 Hptm., 3./NJG 2 WIA, Ju 88C-6 (WNr. 720095) crashed at Deelen a/f, cause unknown.

That’s about all we can find on this fellow.
Good luck.

Re: Hptm. Eduard Jacob 3./NJG 2

After Talking with Theo, it is highly probable that he claimed shooting down 35sqn Halifax HX324 about 22:15 to 22:30 on 211/1944

Re: Hptm. Eduard Jacob 3./NJG 2

Hallo Bas,

When looking on your website 'crashes over Twente' I saw the entry about the Whitley at Noord-Deurningen 12/13 March 1941: Wohlers belonged not to the I./NJG 1 but 8./NJG 1 (8th Staffel = part of III./NJG 1) flying from Rheine.
This nocturnal victory was obtained with the help of the searchlights in nightfighting sector 6A (Kammhuber-line 1th generation) with assistance of fighter operator Ofw. Holdt. It was Wohlers first.

All the best, Marcel Hogenhuis
