How was the distribution of Fiesler Storchs to the German Army organised?

Presumably Storchs were so widely distributed in such small numbers around Army formations that they didn't operate as squadrons.

So how were they organised?

Did every division have one or more, or only mechanized formations?

Were Storchs more commonly, or even universally, found at corps or army level?

Was there any fixed establishment for the distribution of Storchs?

How was maintenance and repair organised for such widely dispersed aircraft?

Many thanks.

Re: How was the distribution of Fiesler Storchs to the German Army organised?

Just thought I would resurrect this unanswered question 18 years later.

Any ideas, anyone?

Cheers,

Sid

Fi 156 distribution

I am not certain if this is any help, but sometimes(but apparently, not all the time) the Flugzeugverteilung documents included Fi 156 under Verb. (Verbindung) category. Some months it gives a breakdown by units. Here is a list from Feb.1944.

2-NJG.10
3-L.In.14
1-Fa.Argus
7-Fl.V.G.
2-SS-Div
1-E.K.26
1-z.b.V.7
1-Gen.d.Jgd.Fl.
8-NAG.14
1-OkW/Peilzug.
1-K.G.21c
1-Gen.d.Fl.Bod.Org.
1-GL/C-E
3-Lfl.Kdo.Reich
11-Lfl.4
4-Lfl.5
6-Lw.Kdo.S.C.
If I added correctly, the total was 54 which was all a/c for that month (36 Neubau and 18 Rep.)

Perhaps this is of some help.

Re: How was the distribution of Fiesler Storchs to the German Army organised?

Also German Customs (Zollgrenzschutz) use two Fieseler Fi 156 at the "Ostfront".

SI+GE (1943) former D-ECAD, Unit was Zollgrenzschutz Ukraine
Marking on the plane "ZOLL 1"

SI+GF (1943-1944) former D-EAPG. Unit was Zollgrenzschutz Schwarzes Meer
Marking on the plan "ZOLL 2", plane shoot down at an unkown date in 1944,

Maybee an third Fi 156 was served by Zollgrenzschutz, detail are not clear.

Pilots where Customs-Officers, trained by DLV and they have an own Customs Flying Badge!!!
