Kurt Bühligen eArticle now available

Hi,

The Air War Publications team is very happy to announce the release of our latest eArticle, 'The Life of Kurt Bühligen', the story of the last Kommodore of Jagdgeschwader 2. The basic outline of his story is well known - his rise from mechanic to Geschwaderkommodore over the course of just a few years. However, we've conducted extensive research in order to present more than just the basics. The 6,000 word article is based on many sources, including British, American, and German documents, and interviews with the man himself. It can be downloaded from this location.

Accompanying the text are 26 photographs, a colour profile, and two maps (one an overview of his career movements, and the other a map of the 7 November 1940 mission on which Bühligen claimed the destruction of an RAF Hurricane).

Our latest blog post also features a short section from a II./Jagdgeschwader 2 'home movie', featuring Kurt Bühligen and another man we've written about in the past, Fritz Schröter.

We hope you like the new eArticle.

All the best,
Andrew A.

Re: Kurt Bühligen eArticle now available

Good morning dear Andrew,

I've created a paypal accout and dowloaded the publication which was easier than expected. Scrolling throught the pages it makes a very good first impression with a large volume of info and appealing photos. I'm looking forward to working it through page by page and wish you a good succes with many sales and positive feedback.

Best greetings from Brandenburg to you and Mr Etgen,

Michael

Re: Kurt Bühligen eArticle now available

Good afternoon Andrew,

have you noticed that if you combine
  • the Bühligen kills in your list
  • with the Bühligen kills in the Johannes Mathews list
  • and the balloon kill
  • and the unknown kill in the Nov43-Mar44 period
and exclude the Mustang kills that you classify as doubtful,
you arrive at a total score of 112 ?

Kind regards from Brandenburg,

Michael

Re: Kurt Bühligen eArticle now available

...is it anyhow possible to determine the date on which the (1940/41) balloon kill was claimed ?

Michael
