German avgas stock

Someone was very nice and posted German avgas stock at bases for April 1945.

Is it possible that stock for Jan, Feb. and March is also known and could be posted?

Re: German avgas stock

You'll find some data (mainly for the final weeks) in the Canadiana microfilms (Reel T-2422) online at: http://heritage.canadiana.ca/view/oo...22/462?r=0&s=3 from about frame 462 onward.

There's also a lot of partial data in the DEFE 3/ ULTRA series (online at the UK National Archives site) usually for one Luftflotte or another, but it can be pieced together to give a bigger picture. One problem is that they don't always specify whether the numbers are for tonnes or for cubic metres.

I long ago compiled the data for the Italian theatre from October 1944 onward, which I could dig out if they are of any use.

Thank you Nick. The data was in 'cbm'.

Again, thank you for the offer of Italian data. Will keep that in mind.

Re: German avgas stock

The difference between the Volume or Mass of fuel could be important if the actual amount was critical to an outcome, the difference between a Metric tonne (1000Kg) and cubic metre (1000L or about 800Kg). Of course, aircraft tank gauging in those days was often done by volume (Imp Gal, US Gal and Litres) because the tanks were mostly gauged directly by floats and sight glasses.
