part from german bomber

I wonder what this can be. It looks like an equipment for air.

It comes from a german bomber, but I don't know which type. Probably a HE111 or a JU88. Size is around 15 cm.
Who has an idea ?

Re: part from german bomber

Is it made of brass?

I think you will find it is part of the oxygen apparatus.

Re: part from german bomber

thanks Andy,

this part is made of steel.

I believe your idea of an oxygen system component do make sense.

Re: part from german bomber

I'm not sure. I think oxygen fittings were brass.

I have had/seen something like this. Am wondering if compressed air rather than oxygen?

Re: part from german bomber

Makes "engineering sense" that oxygen fittings are brass (or copper), not steel. Brass will not readily corrode (avoids contaminating the O system), provides a germicidal function at the surface (avoids tainting the O), and, most importantly, will not spark given harsh metal on metal contact (e.g., when a connection nut is turned) - add a spark (heat) to concentrated O near a flammable material (fuel) and look out (flash combustion - fire)!

Sorry, I'm an aeronautical engineer by trade.
