Junkers W34 and Kl.35 loss 26th November 1942
Dear all,
On 26th November 1942 Junkers W34 Werknr 0175 of the Feuerst Horst and Klemm Kl.35 Werknr 3264 were shot down by a Mustang of 268 Squadron near Harderwijk, The Netherlands. I'm looking for the codes (likely Stammkenzeichen) of both aircraft and the unit of the Kl.35. Perhaps somebody has acces to the GQM loss records? Thanks in advance and best regards, Hans Nauta |

The Kl 35 belonged to Luftdienstkommando Holland, and the W 34 belonged to Luftdienstkdo. Belgien/Nordfrankreich!

Re: Junkers W34 and Kl.35 loss 26th November 1942
According to my files Mustang AM 143 of No. 268 shot down a Fieseler Fi156 Storch not a Klemm Kl35. The Storch landed often at the airstrip near Harderwijk where later the radarstation 'Hase' was constructed.
Actually it was the same place where Bf110 G9+AM of 4/NJG1 crash landed. What would a Klemm do in Harderwijk and where did it came from? --Cees Steijger |

Re: Junkers W34 and Kl.35 loss 26th November 1942
Beste Hans,
I don't know what the 268 Squadron pilot thought he had in his gunsight, but on Tony Wood's website it says that on 26 Nov 1942 F/O R.A. Bethell claimed a Me-109 and a Ju-52 near Oldebroek around 11.30 a.m Were these other claims? Or plain mistaken identity? Pilot Bethell by the way was shot down near Alkmaar (Petten?) by Flak on 7 Dec 1942 in AP212 "V", but I'm sure this is old news for you. POW in Stalag III. Groet, Leendert Brugge/Belgium |

Actually, the eyewitness I spoke with perfectly described the Fi156 which often landed near the village of Harderwijk. But they can be wrong of course. --Cees |
