Looking for information on a member of Luftgaukommando VI - any thoughts?

Hey guys,

I recently found something with teh following inscription:

G. M.
Flieger H. Ing.
Luftwaffen B Kp.
412 VI 68
1941

From what I was told, this is someone from Luftflotte 2, Luftgaukommando VI.

Is there any way to find out more information?

TIA

Mike

Checking Wikipedia Luftgau Kommando VI was part of Luftflotte 2 from 1938 to the end of 1941. Now to try and decipher who the flyer H.Ing was.
Information usually found on an identification tag.

Hey Mike
I'm still looking, it's a neat learning process for me as well. Finding some info related to that subject - dog tags at other sites like http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com
But nothing definitive.
I'm sure something will come up....:-)

Just learned something new, it's not that it's the name of a flyer but actually a designation of a rank for example "Flieger-Hauptingenieur (Fl Hpt Ing)".
More to come as I learn.

Re: Looking for information on a member of Luftgaukommando VI - any thoughts?

Hey Mike

I don't think so, from what I have read on other sites the Germans did not place personal information on identification tags, name blood type etc until later on in the war.
I think G.M. still leans towards a military / unit designation. IMHO
I'll see if I can dig up the reference to the personal information and pass it along as well as what G.M could have stood for.

Regards
