50th Fighter Group's P-47

Hi,

I am looking for information on a P-47 of the 50th FG whose nose art was "PEE WEE". This P-47 was with the 50th FG in ALG A-10 Carentan.

Do you have a picture of the nose art you could post? There may be some clues visible.

Re: 50th Fighter Group's P-47

The reference to PEE WEE may have come from this (search for Pee Wee):

https://fonfasite.files.wordpress.co...up_issue13.pdf

One of the squadrons of the 367th FG was also based at ALG A-10 (which was where the 50th FG was based). No mention of a pilot's name or a photo of the plane.

Re: 50th Fighter Group's P-47

The only reference to a P-47 named Pee Wee on this site are 42-74695
http://p-47.database.pagesperso-orange.fr/
http://p-47.database.pagesperso-oran...e/42-7xxxx.htm

and a mention under 42-8693
http://p-47.database.pagesperso-oran...se/42-8xxx.htm

Same plane here as well.

Re: 50th Fighter Group's P-47

Thanks all for your replies.

Unfortunately, I've no picture of this P-47.

I am the author of the 367th FG's newsletter and in my issue # 13 I have mentioned Mr. Gidon whose mother was doing the laundry for Pee Wee's ground crew. I would like to find for Mr. Gidon a picture of this P-47 and it's pilot name at the time the 50th FG was stationed in ALG A-10 Carentan.
