USAAF airman PoW on RAF bomber

Bomber Command Losses Vol.5 (1944) page 147 (Chorley):
Lancaster III - 57 Sqn - ND622 - Sgt W.E. STEEPER - USAAF - PoW

Footprints on the Sands of Time - page 410:
STEEPER WE USA 57 Sqn ND622 Lancaster 30/3/44 Nuremberg

PoW Register (PoW Naval and Air Forces of GB and the Empire):
STEEPER WEA (American) Sgt 1060195

Servicenumber 1060195 as mentioned in the PoW-Register is incomplete and may have been: 10601595 (8 figures instead of 7).

STEEPER can't be found on the US Enlistment List, however the ADD Form (Access to Archival Database) gives for 10601595:T/Sgt Herbert R. STOREY (from Indiana) - enlisted as a T/Sgt 17-12-1943 into the Air Corps.

Is it possible that STEEPER was an alias for STOREY ? Who has access to the Form 1180 for the bombaimer's name.

Regards and thanks for your help.
Henk.

Re: USAAF airman PoW on RAF bomber

And he sailed back home to New York on the Queen Elizabeth June 29th 1945

Altough the name is listed as

F/O William E Steeper 10601595 AC Leslie Ave, Utica NY

This may be him:
William E. Steeper, 81, of Phoenix, died Jan. 25, 2004. He was a WWII US Air Force veteran. Private family services were held.
Published in the Arizona Republic on 1/28/2004.

I think his name is mentioned here too:
