Re: Α Ju 52 at the coast of Salonika

A theory is that the tail code (Taktische Kennzeichen) could be identified as "W 4" + a letter, possibly K. The tail code W was assigned to K.Gr.z.b.V. Wittstock, the number 4 indicated the Staffel as 4./K.Gr.z.b.V. Wittstock, and the letter K was the individual letter for this particular aircraft within the Staffel. Some of the aircraft of 4./K.Gr.z.b.V. Wittstock carried the unit code "G6+ from the old unit K.Gr.z.b.V. 102.

As mentioned in my previous e-mail, W.Nr. 7103 was a Ju 52/3mg5e and was reported on several occations from 24. February 1943 through to 02. March 1943 with the unit code G6+ES when converting from wheels to floats in Pillau. Also according to my notes, this aircraft was assigned the permanent code (Stammkennzeichen) DD+ZV. When shot down en-route from Milos to Athens on 29. May 1943, the aircraft operated with Seetransportfliegerstaffel 1. During this mission the aircraft was escorted by Ar 196A-3 D1+IH W.Nr.298 from 1./126 which was also shot up when landing at Lutra on the island of Kythnos.

Re: Α Ju 52 at the coast of Salonika

Right, but I hv note for this one 7130..but no unit code is given , only the STKZ DD+ZV...,,?

By the way the unit is given as 1.KGrzbv102, seems to hv been disbanded, at some time around spring 43
