British gun turrets?

Is there a detailed book on British aircraft gun turrets up to 1945? I am aware of R. Wallace-Crake's book, but I am looking for something much more detailed especially covering turret mechanisms, their development and engineering details and analysis.

Re: British gun turrets?

Anthony G Williams has written books on aircraft armament but I don't now if that included the turrets. His website is here: http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/

I searched "gun turret" in the UK National Archives catalogue and got 251 hits. I'd imagine you would find detailed technical evaluations there but (unless your interest was very specific) ordering copies would be a very expensive way of getting the information, of course.

Re: British gun turrets?

A. G. Williams's books don't cover turrets as far as turrets themselves are concerned.
