Major Kurt 'Kuddel' Ubben KIA 27.4.44

I have the flying logbook / combat records of Captain Harold Ogden AAC of the 356th Fighter Group.
At 1730 hrs on the 27th April 1944 he was flying P-47D-2 (No 4222517) on a mission Reims to Chateau Thierry, France, when his group intercepted 14 FW 190's at 20,000ft near Cambrai. The group engaged them and Ogden along with Lt Robert Collins shared in damaging one of these 190's, and then both turned to attack another one. Ogden's report states ' I opened fire at about 600 yards, the shot being head on , I kept firing until within 150 yards, I saw strikes hit the engine followed by a sheet of flame. The E/A at once pushed over into a steep dive billowing black smoke. The E/A levelled out and I opened fire at 300 yards, and continued firing to within 150 yards. I saw another sheet of flame and pieces fly off. The E/A then did a barrel roll and pulled up, Lt Collins came in dead astern and fired, there was an explosion and what was left hit in a big field, disintegrating and burning. I saw one object leave the E/A and hit the ground. This might have been the pilot but NO parachute opened'.
Ogden wrote in his logbook, 'Shot down Major Myer in FW 190 with Bob Collins' I have no idea why he wrote this down, no names mentioned in the combat record, so this seems to be a mistake and is more likely to be Ubben?
Does anyone have more details re the death of Ubben on the 27th April 1944?
