Question Seeking losses of RAF Mustang's on 27th September 1944

Hi,

Am seeking details of losses of RAF Mustang a/c lost on the 27th September 1944.

There are shown on the Tony Woods excelent site at least nine claims , all in the a.m.

The US losses seem only to have been three a/c .

Firstly I wondered what losses there may have been in the pm and then just how many in all would perhaps have been RAF losses.

Many thanks for your replies

Alex

Re: Seeking losses of RAF Mustang's on 27th September 1944

According to Shores 2nd TAF book

Mustang losses
FR936 2 Sqn 0730 Flak NE Geldermalsen (Shores suggested Humburg of JG 26 may have claimed it too)
FR895 2 Sqn 1630 hit by Flak, force-landed W Antwerp (so in Allied territory)

Mustang Claims
One Fw 190 damaged by 19 Sqn 1630 E of Nijmegen
One Bf 109 shot down by 122 Sqn 1745 near Nijmegen

This book is not describing claims and losses of ADGB units, only 2nd TAF, so may miss some Mustang losses/claims

Can add following to FR936:
Hit by flak whilst attacking a train between Utrecht and Arnhem, forced landed Plattenweg (name of a road) near Asch, 3 km NW of Buren, 08.30 hrs. P/O G.A. Percival evaded capture. Hiding at Beusichem he crossed safely the river Meuse 13-10-1944.
Regards,
Henk.
