Re: W/Cdr Hayley - Bell

Hello 68 Sqn,

Hayley-Bell´s and Uezzell´s claim for an Me-410 was actually made on 6 November 1943, not on the 8th. The location given in their Combat Report is 6 miles north of Happisburgh and time 23.47 hours.

The two Dornier Do 217s on 10 December 1943 were claimed damaged in the area of Ipswich and off the coast of Belgium approximately between 20.15 and 20.20 hours. Hayley-Bell and Uezzell took off at about 19.45 hours, but there is no information about the landing time in the CR (you can possibly find more details in No. 68 Squadron´s ORB).

Finally, on 14 March they claimed "one Ju 88 or Ju 188 destroyed" in the position L 10 at 23.12 hours. Their Beafighter Mk.VI took off from Fairwood Common at 22.15 hours, but again there is no information about time of landing in the CR.

If you are interested in more details, you can drop me a PM and I will send you the copies of their combat reports.

Hope this helps,

Ota
