2./KG 28, December 1941

Hi,

According to "Neizvestnaya bitva v nebe Mosvvy 1941-1942" by D.Kzazanov on December 4th, 1941 2./KG 28 lost He 111H-6 WNr.4479 1T+KK:
- Uffz. Karl Weidling (F)
- Obgfr. Willi Weissenberger (Bf)
- Obgfr. Richard Hadicke (Bm) KIA
- Fw. Rolf Reiter (Bs)
100%, Unbekannt, (Moskau)

And on December 15th, 1941 2./KG 28 lost He 111H-6 W.Nr.4573 1T+LL:
- Uffz. Paul Weidling (F) MIA
- Fw. Rolf Reiter (B) MIA
- Obgfr. Willi Weidenburger (Bf) MIA
- Uffz. Johann Schwaimhofer (Bm) MIA
100%, Unbekannt, (Bei Kschen)

I have some questions about this accidents:
Karl/Paul Weidling - brothers or same man?
Weissenberger/Weidenberger - what name is correct?
Was Rolf Reiter beobachter or bordschutze?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Mihail.

Michael

No answer, but technically shouldn't 1T+LL belong to the 3 Staffel?

Cheers
Stig

Hi,

I wonder if there may be some mistake here?

WNr 4479 - Weidling, Weissenberger and Reiter returned to unit approx. 16 December, Hadicke was injured.

WNr 4573 - Not with the crew that you name, was with 3./KG28, and was reported missing on 13 December, during mission to PlQu 646. I believe that the crew of this aircraft returned to unit in January 1942.

Always open to correction!

Regards

David

But for He 111H-6 W.Nr.4575 1T+MK that was lost (Bei Kschen):
Uffz. Paul Weidling (F) MIA
Fw. Rolf Reiter (B) MIA
Obgfr. Willi Weidenburger (Bf) MIA
Uffz. Johann Schwaimhofer (Bm) MIA

Re: 2./KG 28, December 1941

Hi,

Again I stand to be corrected, but I have crew as :-

Uffz Paul Leidling (F), Fw Rolf Reitern, Willi Weissenberger, Uffz Hans Schwaimhofer.

Aircraft was 1T+MK of 2./KG28. From previous reply re. 16 December return to unit - it could be that this is the date that their return was reported although they could have returned earlier and thus poor Weissenberger (if it is the same man) get's shot down twice!

Regards

David
