Fw. Günther Josten 1./JG 51 13 Aug 43

On the 13 Aug 1943 Fw. Gunther Josten of 1./JG 51 claimed to have shot down two "Hurricane". His 35th at 18:30 NE of Olshany (Now Vilshany) but the next one his 36th also a "Hurricane" was listed at 18:37. He listed this one also NE of Olshany but I believe he chased this one towards Kharkov but used the same location in his report. What model of Fw 190 A was he flying and could it cover 24 km in 7 minutes at 4500 m?

Thanks Kenny. It looks like instead of Hurricanes that he shot down it might have been Yak-7B's but will have to wait to find out.

In Tony Wood's lists the time is recorded as 18:36 and 18:37 respectively.

Maxim1 but in J. Prien's JFV 12/I it has 18:30 and 18:37. This would correspond with the time for a pursued Soviet fighter to reach Udy near Kharkov. Tony Wood's list has errors but sometimes so does the JFV's but on this Prien is probably right.
