Hurricane & Spitfire code letters and serial numbers
Hi,
I’m struggling to get some details and was wondering if someone can help and clarify missing bits and pieces. I’ve attached a list of Hurricanes and Spitfires for which I’m trying to find code letters or serial numbers. I know there are guys with huge knowledge, who may fill the gaps. Hurricanes: 32 Sqn Hurricane I GZ-? R4106 Hurricane I GZ-? N2524 Hurricane I GZ-? P6546 Hurricane I GZ-? V6572 Hurricane I GZ-? N2671 Hurricane I GZ-? P3679 Hurricane GZ-? Z2984 145 Sqn Hurricane I SO-? R4177 238 Sqn Hurricane I VK-? P3219 Hurricane I VK-? L1998 Hurricane I VK-? P3836 Hurricane I VK-? L1889 249 Sqn Hurricane I GN-? V6534 Hurricane I GN-? V6614 Hurricane I GN-? R4178 257 Sqn Hurricane I DT-? P3893 501 Sqn Hurricane I SD-? P3820 Hurricane I SD-? P5193 Hurricane I SD-? P5194 601 Sqn Hurricane I UF-? L1819 Spitfires: 74 Sqn Spitfire I ZP-? X4167 Spitfire II ZP-? P7363 I’m also looking for individual code letters and serial numbers for: Hurricane I AF-? from 607 Sqn, flying which P/O Wlasnowolski claimed Do 17 over Poole on 15.9.40; Hurricane I AF-? from 607 Sqn, flying which P/O Surma claimed Bf 109 SE of St Catherine’s Point on 26.9.40 and Hurricane I DZ-? from 151 Sqn, flying which P/O Surma claimed He 111 prob. over Redlett on 30.8.40 Any help, advices and hints very much appreciated. I have the following identities for three of the Hurricanes:
V6614 GN-B P5193 SD-O P5194 SD-J I have to admit, though, that I cannot quote my sources for these. |

Hi Peter, i can confirm i have the same as voytech with P5193 and P5194.
No249Sq. i have V6534 GN-P V6614 GN-B. No others at present. Best regs, Steve. |

Can only confirm those above, but P6546 was a Fairy Battle

Yes, you're right Tuck re Battle number. I didn't check Air - Britain before assuming that my source was right. In that case, does anyone know which plane was flown on 22nd of August 1940 by Karol Pniak, Polish pilot of 32 Sqn? Regards Peter |
