TOE strength of an Luftwaffen unit
Hi
I'm interested in the TOE strength(not the Flugzeugbestand what shows what the unit has, I searcxh for the number that the unit should have) of the different Geschwader types(Jagdgeschwader, Kampfgeschwader, etc.) and I searched the web for it but most sources only show numbers that cover a wide range. I guess that is because the usual strength of a Staffel is listed with 12 -16 for fighter & 9 - 12 for bomber units what sums up to a wide range depending on how many Gruppen the Geschwader has. So is there a way to know for sure how strong the usual Staffel was? Is it dependent of the year? The units I'm mainly interested in are the ones that were assigned to Heeresgruppe Süd in July 1942. |
