Re: Missing in action, Herbert Holzmann 9./KG1
The Lowat was the river on your map. It was the place of several battles in WWII.
I'm not good enough in German to know what 'Bogen' or 'Schleife' means, but that more a description of the target than its name in my own opinion. It seems to me you have most details available on the German side (Wnr, map, etc...). I advice you to post your query in the Allied part of this forum, several Russian searchers used it and may help you for the Soviet side of the loss. |

Re: Missing in action, Herbert Holzmann 9./KG1
Hi Laurent,
thanks for your writing, German "Bogen" or "Schleife" means rivers "bend" or "curve", sorry. The battle at this time (as herbert crashed) was the operation to exspand the pocket of demjansk (known as "operation michael" or "schlingpflanze") between Jul-Aug.1942. what you mean if you say "post this thread in Allied part" ? should i post this thread in Allied part additional? Thanks and greets from Unna FRank Last edited by FRanky; 16th November 2006 at 18:00. |
