Rhodes-Moorhouse BoB Colour Film
A few years ago I saw a TV program that showed part of a very rare 'home movie' shot in colour by William H. Rhodes Moorhouse, who flew Hawker Hurricanes in the BoB with 601 Sqn. The home movie is thought to have been taken at Tangmere in June 1940 (but certainly no later than 6th September 1940 when sadly Rhodes-Moorhouse was killed while in action over Kent). Does anyone know if this movie is available online or on DVD?

Re: Rhodes-Moorhouse BoB Colour Film
Not to my knowledge. It was included in Dig 1940 and was a very small part of the total film which IIRC is still held by the family. I believe Andy Saunders has seen the complete film. I have a couple of screen grabs of it showing 601's Hurris.
It is remarkable footage and it would be wonderful if it was released in its entirety as it's (to my knowledge at least) unique. However that's completely and rightly at the discretion of the family. |
