Dear Ota Jirovec,
many thanks for that interesting link - it is exciting to see how much information comes forward on a single incident, in this case first hand documents from both sides. I will sure have more questions in the future. KR Jochenh Prien |

Re: I./JG 2 - 9. September 1944
Dear friends, thank you for visiting our homepage. Yes, we did a lot of research on the 9th of September 1944 (like the 11. September and 2. December) around Giessen and Marburg Area and were in contact with some veterans of both sides in the past years. We still look for a photo of Gefr. Robert Marschall 4./JG 2 and Uffz. Eberhard Gartz 2./JG 2. Greetings Peglar

Re: I./JG 2 - 9. September 1944
Hello gentlemen,
the result of this discussion is, that we have five confirmed German P-47 claims, but in the MACR documents only four Thunderbolt-losses are findable: Abschussnummer J 2050 42-26683 1st Lt Leidy (Lt Eisen) Abschussnummer J 2051 42-22469 2nd Lt Garlent (Uffz Gartz) Abschussnummer J 2090 42-25861 1st Lt Rideout (Uffz Lück) Abschussnummer J 2132 42-76351 2nd Lt Moore (Uffz Klein). The opponent of Lt Eickhoff (P-47 17:35 SW Gießen) is not ascertainable. Regards Leo |
