Unknown part of the Bf109

Hi Guys

This massive iron fragment or weight was found in the debris field of a Bf109.
What is it and where was it installed ... or does it not belong to it ???

The piece is 34 cm long, 85 mm wide and 35 mm thick. For the time being, I cleaned it half-the rust and the crust of the clay was already considerable.

Best regards Christoph

I have found roughly the same on Bf 110G.

Ahh - Thank you.
Did you have a photo and where it was installed on the Me110?

Re: Unknown part of the Bf109

It could be trim ballast from a bent airplane. It's obviously not a manufactured part of any aircraft.

Also, just because something like a big hunk of iron is found in a debris field that in no way means it is part of a debris field. Right? If you found a Roman arrowhead in a debris field, you wouldn't conclude the plane was carrying Roman arrowheads.

Re: Unknown part of the Bf109

Hi Bronc

You're absolutely right - the piece is from a Me110 G-2. It is one of the two 12.5 kg ballast weights of the balance and was attached to the left and right in the fuselage.

I have some part of the Bf109 and the Me110 adopted and confused ...
