Color photo of 50th Fighter Group

Hi,

Page 78 of the excellent book First TACAF / Tannehill_Boomerang / 1998 we have a color photo of 50th Fighter Group. Alas this photo and also in the same book of a friend is blur. I do not know if this original is already blur or if it is a bad reproduction.

Attachment 20522

Does anybody know if this photo published elsewhere or where this photo came from which archives?

TIA

Bertrand

This appears to be the same photo but it is also not in great shape.

Re: Color photo of 50th Fighter Group

This may be clearer. Credit Richard H Perley who flew with the 313FS.
Incidentaly the red tail bands are the 50th markings, the red nose was 1st TAF ( they had no special markings when with Ninth AF to Nov. 1944).

Nick

Re: Color photo of 50th Fighter Group

This photo is on the title page of the book "Fighter Command" by Jeffrey L. Ethell and Robert T. Sand with the text "50th Fighter Group Thunderbolts on their airfield near Nancy, France". It is a slide from Richard H. Perley.

Leo
