Spitfire XIV 91 Squadron lost 31 July 1944

Hi guys

I've become a little confused regarding the identities of some of 91 Squadron's Spit XIVs!

On 31 July 1944, either RM654 or NH654 was lost in a collision. Any idea which one?

Cheers
Brian

Thumbs up Re: Spitfire XIV 91 Squadron lost 31 July 1944

Hi Brian ,

It seems that RM654 collided with Tempest EJ586 over Hove Sussex killing his pilot P/O Schade DFM.
NH654 was tranferred to the Belmgian Air Force on 25/04/47 as SG-8

Brian

This was a collision over Hooe, East Sussex, not Hove - which is a typo. The 486 Squadron aircraft was flown by a Flt Sgt Wilson. I have the Police report on this. Both aircraft were in pursuit of a V1. The crash took place at Holmes Farm, Hooe. I can give you more details if you wish.

Andy
